Review: Shiny Winter Boots

One of the worst things about London is the weather. The first winter I spent here was agony: at least two pairs of my precious shoes were ruined by the salty, wet sludge that they call ‘snow’ out here. I was forced to tromp around in ugly-ass rubber boots, which caused me great distress on the fashion front, and kept my toes in a permanent state of hypothermia. So this year I was desperate to construct the ideal combat gear to face London’s relentless winter assault. This spring I’m pleased to report that I have emerged from the season-of-perpetual-overcast-skies, a victor! My lined, patent vinyl Cougar Zago’s kept my feet warm, dry, looking cool (even when wearing a skirt), and happy. And the shiny surface allowed me to wash the salt stains right off; a feat unachieved by other, ordinary pairs of winter boots. These boots went everywhere with me this winter; Toronto, New York, Dundas St. Like Linus’s blanket, they saw everything I saw; movies, gigs, art. They even performed alongside me in Headquarterz. I’m almost sad to have to pack them away for the summer. Almost sad.
